Oh, I have confirmation the official time frame for this will be today within the next hour or so. And there will be fake guide writing. (edited)

So far in terms of joke guides there's 1 Community Guide, 2 Tips & Tricks guides, 3 JDI guides, and no Drafts. This is the greatest list of guides. This has all of the new guides on it given the list procedures. As of now, there are 3 guides on the list. https://community.tulpa.info/topic/17929-the-greatest-list-of-tulpa-guides/ Keep in mind I am judging joke guides the way I would real ones. I'm finding not everyone automatically knows where something goes. (edited)

Switching In my observations, there are two broad categories of switching, characterized by the following attributes. 1. A shift in primary thought origination. 2. Bodily activity direction. 3. Full body possession. 4. Host awareness dissociation. "Wait what's the difference between possession ...

Hey, does anyone here know what the oldest tulpa guide on record is? I'm collecting guides for a project but don't really know where to get the really old ones in an unedited form. I've found quite a few on the forums but figured it's good to ask and cover my bases
Avatar
Weren't Irish and FAQ Man's the oldest ones? Not sure which came first, it was long before I was around
Avatar
Astra 🕯 BOT 3/29/2023 4:12 AM
That's what I think is the case but there's multiple versions of them and you never know what else might be out there
Avatar
The true oldest is probably lurking on the old Google groups BBS archives from back when tulpas were a wild occult thing. FAQ man is predated by 4 Chan guides that are possibly lost to time as well

I had some of the first tulpa threads from 4chan years ago but I lost them in a bad hard drive. I may have them somewhere, I search here and there.

I probably have the old 4chan guides, they were all pictures. I'll have to look

What is the pendulum method?
2:06 AM
I’m assuming this is the right room to ask 😅
Avatar
It's where you use a pendulum to communicate with your tulpa, if they're being quiet or you haven't developed vocality! It works through subtle subconscious movements of your hand :0 Do you know whay a pendulum is?
Avatar
Oh yeah I’ve done that before with other stuff
2:07 AM
Thought it was an analogy lol

hmm maybe i should write a cohesive guide in pdf for pendulum method already so i don’t need to send people to an old message on discord

It makes me happy that I'm writing this draft for my possession guide and my train of thought just seamlessly flows into the next concept
12:19 AM
In addition to being more distant sensory wise, I am also slightly more distant thinking wise. Typically, I need to be the one doing the majority of the conscious thinking. For example, I may think about what I want to wear, talk to my host about my day, or think about a problem in my head. As a shorthand for this guide, I will call this experience the lecture position. While this general experience may have other names and other interpretations elsewhere, I believe it is a noteworthy experience that is useful for learning possession. Being in the lecture position is especially important for me to control the entire body. Part 1: Full-body Possession By Proxy About The Method While possessing the entire body at once may sound like a more significant feat than possessing a hand for instance, I believe full-body possession is easier to achieve than partial possession given the nature of the lecture position. With full-body possession, the tulpa will be doing most if not all of the thinking, making it less likely the host will accidentally interrupt the experience. Keep in mind that you are still in control of the experience, even if you’re not always paying attention to what your tulpa is doing.

Well, that came out more positive than I even intended it, lol. Our system is still for the traditional "Read opinions and experiences from lots of different people"

Though we have always disliked stringent guide-following.

It's just not our preference.

For the past few years guides have sorta been replaced with live advice on discord. The mindsets and advice has shifted, but it also depends on where you get advice and who's online helping at the time

Avatar
Tewi: Yeah, for people who want to use guides, we've still always recommended reading many, and picking what sounds good to you and leaving what doesn't (because "what sounds good to you" very frequently has the best results in a purely mental experience like tulpamancy) (edited)

What’s everyone’s favourite guides?
A long kiss goodnight 8/22/2023 12:34 AM
I don't know if I have a favorite guide. I'm personally not a big fan of general guides because of the ones I read, they are more often broad overviews than anything specific or unique. I do like Luigi's guide for it being higher effort though As for guides in general? I have a soft spot for AZ's hour count guide has a special, and Stone's threshold guide is a neat concept that stood out to me. I should point out I knew these guys though, so I'm likely biased (edited)

‘Hour counts’ refers to the practise of tracking the number of hours spent forcing. It was a common practise in the past because the oldest guides instructed the reader to use them. However, they have gotten a bad name over the years from people perpetuating the idea that they are detrimental to ...
